Blackmagic Design Presents Filmmaking Tools and Techniques with DP Sherry McCracken

Blackmagic Design Presents Filmmaking Tools and Techniques with DP Sherry McCracken

NYWIFT and Blackmagic Design will be joined by filmmaker Sherry McCracken for a presentation hosted by AbelCine to discuss the tools and techniques essential to today’s filmmakers. After spending more than two decades as a photographer, McCracken will discuss what drove her to switch her career to filmmaking and how that led to her recent role as Director of Photography (DP) for the film American Gothic. As DP, McCracken will go into detail about her hands-on approach to filmmaking and will discuss lessons learned from creating American Gothic – including what filmmakers should think about when shooting on location and how DPs can best use their gear to their advantage when planning and capturing shots.

For those looking to hear more about which gear McCracken uses, Blackmagic Design will demo its URSA Mini Pro digital film camera, as well as discuss additional Blackmagic Design products used during production.

Sherry McCracken is a filmmaker and photographer with more than 25 years of experience. McCracken is co-owner of Little Rock Films & Studios where she teaches photography and filmmaking. She also produces short and feature films. In 2016 Sherry was the Director of Photography for the feature film American Gothic, for which she won Best Director of Photography at the AC Cinefest. McCracken also serves on the Advisory Board for the Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT). She’s looking forward to her next big project (a feature film) currently titled 48 Blocks
