New NYWIFT Member Jo Addy!
Could you give our readers a brief introduction to yourself?
When I first interviewed at Soho House London for the events manager role, Nick, our founder, told me he was looking for a building in New York and that encouraged me to take the job as I wanted to move to New York. Three years later I made the move and set up our first house in America, Soho House New York, in 2003.
I was still doing events and then transitioned into film and set up the cinema program and now oversee all things film globally for the group. I live in Los Angeles at the moment and have developed a few event franchises around film for our members.

What brought you to NYWIFT?
I wanted to join a community for women in film.
What aspects of your background and identity have motivated your career choices?
I studied hospitality management and had no idea I would end up in film. Being part of Soho House has taken my career in a different direction and allowed me to move countries and create my own job.

Jo Addy, new NYWIFT Member.
What characteristics of both hospitality and film appeal to you the most?
I work in the entertainment industry for a hospitality group and get to mix the two, hosting events for publicists and studio partners and planning panels and Q&A’s with talent for members.
What is the most fulfilling aspect of being part of Soho house, and being able to bring creatives together?
I spend time getting to know our members and often can make connections for them when they are looking for help on script notes, financing, and producing.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far in your career?
Always take the call or meeting and take the time to listen and be kind, even if you can’t help someone.

What project(s) are you currently working on that our readers should be on the lookout for?
I started “Lights, Camera, Breakfast” in March 2025, an interview series talking to women in film and entertainment, and my first guest was Sammy Quan, producer of Anora, fresh off her Oscar win. So far, it’s only been in Los Angeles, and [I’m] looking to take it to New York and London and would love to interview some NYWIFT members.
