Hamptons Fest: NYWIFT is delighted to partner once again with the Hamptons Film Festival for our Women Filmmakers Brunch and Women Calling the Shots Showcase on Sunday. We hope to see you there!
ReFrame TV: ReFrame, which has recognized 34 recent films with its gender-parity stamp, is now seeking submissions for television projects to honor as well. Submissions are due October 10.
Added Protection: The state of California has instituted new legislation that strengthens enforcement of sexual harassment laws in the entertainment industry. The bills broaden the definitions of employer/employee relationships to better support freelance and contract workers (a staple of our industry); expand requirements for harassment training; require public companies to meet a certain quota of female leadership; and make it unlawful for settlement agreements to include confidentiality provisions that impede a victim’s right to pursue civil damages. A new law also requires talent agencies to make information on sexual harassment and eating disorders readily available to clients, including specific training for 14- to 17-year-olds.
