Webisodes Not to Miss: ‘Christine’ on YouTube’s WIGS
ARVE Error: need id and provider

With web series’ titles like Blue, Susanna, and Paloma, YouTube’s WIGS Channel has carved out a space for interesting stories about women while giving female stars underexposed in TV and film a chance to shine.

Blue, the most acclaimed title from the channel, stars Julia Stiles, while other series feature such talent as Maggie Grace, Grace Gummer, and Jennifer Beals.

Feature series Christine stars America Ferrera as the title character. Written and directed by feature film veteran Rodrigo Garcia, who has a knack for writing substantial female roles (Albert Nobb, Mother and Child), Christine follows a woman through a night of speed dating. This brilliant premise develops like a great theater play and halfway through the 12-episode series, the plot takes a delicious turn. Christine’s most interesting dates include the affable Eric Balfour, the smoldering Gary Dourdan, and the sensitive Martin Starr

WIGS offers a great blueprint for developing a web series. If you’re interested in writing, producing, or directing for this nascent medium it would be worthwhile to check out WIGS.
