Top 5 Female Filmmakers of 2012 Asian American FilmLab Shootout

The Asian American Film Lab (AAFilmLab) screened the top 10 films of the Eighth Annual 72 Hour Film Shootout at the 35th Annual Asian American International Film Festival on July 28, 2012.

At this New York City event, NYWIFT member Anaiza Morales presented awards to the Top 5 Female Filmmakers of the 2012 AAFilmLab Shootout:

1. Samantha Chance, producer, Cjec Blocks, Pillowed
2. Barbie Leung, DP and Editor, Cjec Blocks, Pillowed
3. Louise Chen, Producer, Athena, This is Only a Test
4. Toy Lei, Team Captain, The Ex-New Yorkers, The Wedding
5. Judy Lei, Co-Captain, Zebra, The Escapist

The Shootout, a worldwide competition, is in collaboration with Asian CineVision and co-sponsored by New York Women in Film and Television:
"Filmmaking teams are given a common theme at the start and then have 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and complete short films up to five minutes in length. The competition creates a valuable opportunity for Asian American filmmakers to demonstrate their talent, gain exposure in the entertainment industry and impact the visibility of Asian American stories and characters in film."
Congratulations to the winners! We are looking forward to seeing what these five talented women create next.
