Piyali Syam is a South Asian American actress and writer passionate about telling meaningful stories that inspire empathy and connection.

Full Bio
I was born in Wales to Bengali immigrants, who settled in upstate New York a year after I was born. I graduated from Fordham University with a Philosophy major and double minors in Creative Writing and Religious Studies, and then decided to become an actor. I have acted in numerous short films, webseries, features, and television shows. My frustration with the limited opportunities available for South Asian Americans in the current Hollywood landscape, led me to embark on a journey of creating my own work and explore writing, directing, and producing. My recent film, '7 PM', dedicated to essential workers, garnered over 30,000 views online. My short film script was a semifinalist in the Screencraft Comedy Contest and has also placed as a quarterfinalist in the WeScreenplay Diverse Voices competition and Screencraft Film Fund.
