The Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student in communications, journalism, public affairs, gender studies or a related field with a strong interest in public service, gender equity and survivor-centered advocacy to support strategic messaging, media relations and public outreach efforts.

The Team You’ll Work With:

The Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) develops policies and programs, provides training and prevention education, conducts research and evaluations, performs community outreach, and operates the New York City Family Justice Centers. We collaborate with City agencies and community stakeholders to ensure access to inclusive services for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (GBV). GBV can include intimate partner and family violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.

The Problems You’ll Solve

Domestic and gender-based violence remains a critical public health and safety issue affecting communities across New York City. Clear, survivor-centered communication is essential to raising awareness, connecting New Yorkers to life-saving resources and ensuring policies and programs are accessible to the public.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the preparation and editing of press releases, media advisories, newsletters, website content, reports and other communications materials
  • Supporting media monitoring efforts, including compiling press clips and tracking coverage
  • Assisting with the development and scheduling of social media content in alignment with agency guidelines
  • Conducting research to support messaging, briefing materials, and public awareness initiatives
  • Providing logistical and administrative support for agency events and activities
  • Maintaining organized records of communications and media contacts

About You

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, public relations, public policy, marketing or a related field.
  • Prior internship, volunteer and/or academic experience in communications is preferred.
  • Strong written, editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, accessible messaging.
  • Demonstrated interest in issues related to domestic and gender-based violence
  • College Student candidates must be an enrolled and registered student accumulating credits. Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.

Salary

Undergraduate College Students: $17.75 per hour

Graduate Students: $18 per hour
