Power Player Breakfast: Sandra Dewey, President, TNT & TBS Productions and Business Affairs; Head of Studio T

NYWIFT’s ever-popular Power Player Breakfast kicks off the new programming season with one of Turner Broadcasting System’s most dynamic women: Sandra Dewey.

Sandra Dewey heads up the in-house production house Studio T (the in-house studio for TNT and TBS) in addition to her responsibilities as President, TNT & TBS Productions and Business Affairs. She also oversees business affairs for other networks across the Turner portfolio, including Cartoon Network, truTV and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). She also oversees the operation and P&L of the studio business, as both networks produce more and more of their own content

Dewey is a key member of a group of Turner leaders focused on how the company moves from linear television to an omni-platform business, with an ever-expanding assortment of viewing, listening and interactive experiences.

How did she rise through the ranks to such a powerful role at one of the most prolific content producers in the U.S.? What were the challenges when she helped rebrand TBS? And what was it like to close deals with Samantha Bea and Jason Jones for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and The Detour, as well as Steve and Nancy Carell for Angie Tribeca? Those are just three of the many topics Dewey is likely to cover during this session.

Dewey recently oversaw deals for the critically acclaimed drama series Animal Kingdom and Good Behavior, as well as the TNT series Will, The Alienist and Claws. In addition, she served as chief negotiator on the deal to bring Conan O’Brien to TBS.

Dewey is the mother of two children and leads the Los Angeles division of Turner Women Today, a resource and mentoring group for Turner women. In 2014, she was recognized by Working Mother magazine as Turner’s Working Mother of the Year. She was also honored as one of the Multichannel News’ 2017 Wonder Women.
