The Women’s Film Preservation Fund Grant Cycle Is Now Open!
Deadline: June 30, 2025
The Heart of the Matter (1994), production still with crew, cinematographer, Ellen Kuras, PA, Directors Amber Hollibaugh, Gini Reticker, New Orleans, LA
Since 1995, the Women’s Film Preservation Fund (WFPF) of New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) has championed the preservation of films made by women, ensuring their contributions to cinema remain visible and celebrated.
The WFPF supports films made by American women and those created in the U.S. by women from other countries. To date, we have preserved approximately 150 films in partnership with filmmakers, archives, and institutions.
Through film preservation, we revive important yet overlooked works, reinforcing that women have been integral to filmmaking since its inception. Each grant helps create new film elements for archiving and digital versions for exhibition, allowing these works to reach new audiences.
Grant Details
- Awards up to $10,000 for film preservation (not production).
- Eligible films must have been originally shot on film (not born-digital or videotape).
- The process includes a detailed budget and assessment from an approved film preservation lab, so early application is encouraged.
- Application window: April 10 – June 30, 2025.
Access the application and guidelines on our website. For questions, contact wfpf@nywift.org.
