Full Bio
American writer/director Tawny Foskett studied and worked as an actress/dancer before turning to behind-the-scenes work in first theatre, and then film. Tawny studied Social Sciences, Theatre and Film at both The New School and Humboldt State University and received a Graduate Diploma in Narrative Directing from The Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. There she met cinematographer, Sanne Kurz, who she worked with several times including her 2012 short, Girls Who Smoke, adapted from a Moth/This American Life story by Jen Hixson. Now they are teaming up again, as co-directors and DP, in developing the semi-fiction feature Natasha & Sam, which will shoot in the UK and Japan. Her films have been recognized by The Post Alley Film Festival (Audience Award), Sarasota Film Festival, Victoria Film Festival, Coney Island and more. Currently based in Montreal, Tawny will receive an MFA in Film Production from Concordia University in 2019.
