Jacqueline L. Bazan is Founder and President of Bazan Entertainment Marketing Inc., the parent company of BazanPR and BazanED. Based in New Jersey, Bazan Entertainment was founded in 1994. Bazan handles marketing/public relations and distribution consultation for motion pictures for production, festivals, theatrical, home entertainment, television, streaming, awards campaigns, publishing and general business along with personal publicity. She oversees national and regional publicity, promotions and education initiatives and develops fully integrated grassroots strategies and partnerships.

In 2014, Bazan s 20th anniversary of her company, BazanED was introduced, a full-service education support service that creates, hosts and delivers educational materials to public and private educational institutions and their student body families throughout the US. Recent education campaigns include Twentieth Century Fox s The Hate U Give, Walt Disney Pictures A Wrinkle in Time, Walt Disney Pictures Black Panther, Fox Searchlight s The Birth of a Nation, Focus Features Race, Dreamworks Pictures Lincoln, Paramount Pictures and Paramount Home Entertainment s Selma, Participant Media s Teach, Fox Searchlight s 12 Years A Slave and Fox Searchlight s Belle.

BazanPR has represented over 500 films for public relations and grassroots marketing and promotions since the firm began. Recent films include Ava DuVernay s When They See Us (formerly Central Park Five), George Tillman, Jr. s The Hate U Give, Kate Novack s The Gospel According to Andre, Ava Duvernay s A Wrinkle in Time and Ryan Coogler s Black Panther. Bazan supported the launch of the Luke Cage series for Netflix in 2016 through integrated HBCU activations.

Other past campaigns include Academy Award®-winning films Ray, When We Were Kings, The Help, and Tsotsi, and Academy Award®-nominated films 4 Little Girls, Hustle and Flow, Tupac Resurrection, and Hurricane.

Jackie has been responsible for developing and implementing domestic national publicity and grassroots marketing theatrical and home entertainment campaigns for a myriad films including such diverse and acclaimed releases as The Princess and the Frog, the Scary Movie franchise, the Spykids franchise, The Best Man franchise, Eve s Bayou, Tropic Thunder, Inside Man, Get on the Bus, Mystery Science Theatre 3000, Pitch Black, Kill Bill I and II and countless others.

Bazan serves as Marketing/Public Relations and Distribution consultant for acclaimed filmmakers. She has represented Raoul Peck since 1996 and Malcolm D. Lee since 1999. Bazan also represented Spike Lee from 1996-2015. Through project-based campaigns, Bazan has worked with some of the most talented filmmakers in the industry including Steven Spielberg, Ava DuVernay, Kasi Lemmons, John Frankenheimer, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarrantino, Denzel Washington, Norman Jewison, Lauren Lazin, and Taylor Hackford, to name a few.

Bazan also consulted for the Canadian Film Center among others, and served on the Board of Directors of the prestigious NY Film Forum.

Bazan Entertainment is a Gold Winner of the 2007 Hermes Creative Awards for excellence in Community Based Public Relations and Grassroots Outreach and the Platinum Winner of the 2007 Ava Awards for Public Relations Excellence in Video/Film/Documentary.

Bazan Entertainment s client list has included all major studios including Dreamworks Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, Amazon, Universal Pictures, MGM, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and many independents including The Weinstein Company, Miramax Films, Dimension Films, Participant Media, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Focus Features, Zeitgeist, and many more, plus their respective home entertainment divisions.

Bazan is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

With an extensive background in theatrical film distribution, in 1997, Bazan independently distributed Spike Lee s critically acclaimed Academy Award®-nominated feature length documentary 4 Little Girls in 10 cities nationwide. Bazan developed and implemented all marketing and distribution activities under the 40 Acres and a Mule banner. All proceeds from the theatrical run were donated to create a fund in the name of the four little girls to provide college scholarships to young girls in Birmingham, Alabama.

Bazan s past non-entertainment clients have included Chrysler Corporation and the Chrysler Foundation, Ben & Jerry s Ice Cream, National Basketball Players Association Foundation, Gordon Media Group, and GlobalHue.

Prior to forming Bazan Entertainment, Jackie was Vice President of Marketing and Publicity at RKO Pictures from 1990-1994. There, she coordinated national publicity and marketing efforts on behalf of Erik Gustavson s Herman, Francis Girod s Lacenaire and Nick Gomez critically acclaimed Laws of Gravity.

From 1988-1990, Bazan was Director of Marketing and Publicity at Cinecom Entertainment. In this capacity, she coordinated national publicity and marketing efforts on behalf of Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Jon Amiel s Tune In Tomorrow, Mira Nair s Mississippi Masala, Uli Edel s Last Exit To Brooklyn, Volker Schlöndorf s The Handmaid s Tale, and Jon Amiel s Queen of Hearts, among others.

From 1985-1988, Bazan served as national publicist for Ballantine books as well as the movie tie-in publicist at Random House s trade paperback division Ballantine Books. There, she managed marketing and publicity efforts for all books being produced into films. Under Bazan s management, Ballantine Books engaged in their first ever full cover tie-in for a movie allowing the film s key art to grace the cover for author Michael Blake s novel Dances with Wolves. The film adaptation of Blake s novel, the Kevin Costner starrer of the same name, went on to be nominated for 12 Academy Awards®, winning seven including the Academy Award for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium for Michael Blake.
