Alan Simon founded, and has been at the helm of, On Location Education (OLE), now celebrating 27 years. Mr. Simon’s background in education and theatre paved the way for starting On Location Education and later, its sister organization The School for Young Performers, a K-12th grade New York State registered non-public school without walls for students balancing their education with careers. Today, OLE works internationally in all media, providing on-set education services to television, film, theatre, recording industry, and circus productions. Mr. Simon, an authority on the educational needs of young performers, co-authored the book The Young Performer's Guide: How to Break Into Show Business, is co-chairperson of the Screen Actors Guild’s Young Performer's Committee, a member of the Young Performer's Committee of the Actors' Equity Association and an active member of The Broadway League (formerly The League of American Theatres and Producers). Mr. Simon organizes and conducts seminars for unions, industry associations and professional organizations, including the League’s Broadway Speakers Bureau, that bring together recognized entertainment industry authorities to instruct young performers, parents, and college and university students on various topics including the realities of show business and options for behind-the-scenes theatre related occupations.
