American Dance Guild to Screen WFPF Recipient Windows in the Kitchen and Honor Elaine Summers Sept. 6-9
Windows in the Kitchen (1977), directed by Elaine Summers, will be screened at the American Dance Guild (ADG) Performance Festival at 8 pm on both September 6 and 7. The 16mm film, which was preserved through NYWIFT's Women's Film Preservation Fund (WFPF), is an intermedia dance concert, performed by dancer Matt Turney with music by Larry Karsch.
During its opening night gala on Thursday, September 6, the ADG Performance Festival 2012 will honor Summers, along with Dianne McIntyre—two highly distinguished leaders of modern dance. Summers, a choreographer and an intermedia artist, was one of the original members of Judson Dance Theater and a founder of Experimental Intermedia Foundation. Her work is currently being archived at the Jerome Robbins Dance Collection of Lincoln Center Public Library.
ADG Performance Festival 2012 presents 32 artists from around the globe, offering a unique view of the rich diversity of contemporary modern dance.
