Power Player Breakfast:
Sarah Barnett, Executive Vice President & General Manager, Sundance Channel

This month NYWIFT is proud to welcome power player Sarah Barnett. As the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sundance Channel since 2009, Barnett is responsible for day-to-day operations, directing all efforts relating to program development, creative strategy, scheduling and marketing, both on- and off-channel.

Barnett is redefining this marquee brand as a timely and vital channel on the TV landscape with authentic and distinctive shows that add value to viewers’ lives. Under her leadership, Sundance Channel has been reenergized into a dynamic, multiplatform brand that engages affluent audiences with acclaimed original content. She launched the channel’s scripted strategy with the miniseries Carlos, winner of the channel’s first Golden Globe Award, as well as Appropriate Adult, which earned actress Emily Watson Golden Globe and SAG nominations. Barnett has doubled the network’s original slate in the past year alone, highlighted by The Mortified Sessions and Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys. Upcoming scripted programs include Top of the Lake and Rectify. Previously, Barnett was Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sundance Channel, which she joined in 2005.

Prior to Sundance Channel, Barnett held production positions at both BBC America and BBC in London for a total of 12 years. She holds a BA from the University of Warwick in West Midlands, UK. She has been named a 2012 Multichannel News “Woman to Watch,” and she has been featured on CableFAX’s Most Powerful Women in Cable and CableFAX 100 lists in 2010 and 2011.
