DEMON ON WHEELS SUMMARY:

A 65-year-old mechanic and former speed demon from an impoverished Catskills hamlet faces the ghosts of his past as he sets out to restore the prized car of his youth, a 1968 Mustang called the Demon, hidden away for 35 years.

In his wild days, Mike Ondish hopped up the Demon to a monstrous 863 horsepower. And he outran everyone. The State Troopers. The flatlanders. Every punk at the stop light, the quarter mile, or the local track. Until it almost killed him. One day, he locked the car away. It was 1975.

More than 35 years later, Mike risks it all — his business, his savings, his health, even the love of a devoted woman — when he vows to race the Demon again. His lifelong friends and neighbors pledge their help and rally around him — including the retired troopers who used to chase him at break-neck speeds. Mike and his buddies reminisce about their hell-raising days as they rebuild the Demon by hand.
Bolt by bolt, Mike restores the Mustang to her former glory. When he drives the car again for the first time, the whole town cheers him on. We see the car, fully restored and breathing fire on the blacktop. At the same time, Mike and his girlfriend Martha face their doubts about whether he should race again at his age. Will the bad boy finally grow up? Can squealing wheels exorcise the demons inside? Can love outrun a fast car?
