When his bicycle was hit by a van, Eric was left with traumatic brain injury. Without warning, the active young man was bound to a wheelchair, unable to start college as he still struggles to relearn life skills.

His family roams the borderland between hope and despair, their conversation suddenly laced with "intrathecal baclofen", "anoxia", "vestibular nerves" and "frontal lobes".

Will Eric walk again? Small dreams. Big steps forward.

According to the International Brain Injury Association, traumatic brain injury (tbi) is the prime cause of death and disability worldwide.

Back Walking Forward confronts viewers with the unpredictability of the workings of the brain. It pushes them to catch their own reflection in the story of Eric and his family. By exploring one family's altered perception of happiness, Back Walking Forward may even inspire audiences to redefine what happiness means to them.

" a much-needed look at life with traumatic brain injury, at a time when the number of tbi cases is growing."
—- Dr. Kathryn Ko, Chief of Neurosurgery, St. Barnabas Hospital

"It really makes you appreciate each and every day and realize how quickly and completely life can change for any of us!"
—- Jeff Simon, Eric's Principal, Sheepshead Bay High School

"a timely and provocative piece."
