How do I become an Associate Member?

Through the Open Arts Network, a collaborative partnership has been formed between Fractured Atlas and NYWIFT. As a result, we are pleased to offer you this free Associate Membership. Simply go to
www.fracturedatlas.org/nywift and fill out the online Associate Membership application. You will instantly become an Associate Member of the nation's fastest growing arts service organization. And it’s all free!

Our Mission:
Fractured Atlas is a non-profit organization that serves a national community of artists and arts organizations. Our programs and services facilitate the creation of art by offering vital support to the artists who produce it. We help artists and arts organizations function more effectively as businesses by providing access to funding, healthcare, education, and more, all in a context that honors their individuality and independent spirit. By nurturing today's talented but underrepresented voices, we hope to foster a dynamic and diverse cultural landscape of tomorrow.

Associate Member Services:
As an Associate Member of Fractured Atlas you have access to a limited, but vast selection of our services, such as:
- Healthcare:
Obtaining it and paying for it is a critical challenge for many in the arts community. Fractured Atlas works to secure some very affordable health insurance options for its members. All of the information about the plans can be found on our website, where you can directly sign up for the plan that suits your needs.
- Liability Insurance:
Through multiple highly-rated carriers, we are pleased to offer our members access to high-quality, low-cost liability coverage for: annual general liability; studio rental (for visual artists); events (a requirement for many artistic events); film production & equipment; public art installations (covering fabrication/installation, as well as providing coverage for the artwork itself); arts fairs and festivals, teaching artists; director’s and officer’s (which can also include employment practices insurance);
errors and omissions; volunteer accident; and worker’s comp.
- Online Courses:
Fractured U. presents online courses developed by industry professionals that can help with fundraising, marketing, budgeting, producing strategies, and other D.I.Y. aspects of the arts and creative industries.   
- Calendar of Events:
Members can post news and event listings to our online, national Calendar of Events.   
- Microgrants:
Fractured Atlas believes in the importance of continued training and these small grants are designed to support that by targeting funding for creative, organizational, and professional development.
- Special Offers & Discounts:
Our discounts to both businesses and arts organizations have been specifically negotiated for our members.

About Fractured Atlas:
Fractured Atlas is an arts service organization. We provide a wide range of resources and support to the arts community. You can learn about the full range of our programs and services by visiting our website at www.fracturedatlas.org

Fractured Atlas is not an insurance company. If you enroll in a health insurance plan or purchase liability insurance, your premiums will go to the insurance company in question, and they will be responsible for paying your claims. Fractured Atlas is also not a union, nor a producer, agent, manager, etc.

How do I enroll in a healthcare plan?
When you join Fractured Atlas, you will be asked to select a username and password for the web site. When you are ready to enroll in a healthcare plan, just point your browser to www.fracturedatlas.org and login to the site. Then, click on Health Insurance under the Programs & Services menu, select your state of residence from the dropdown menu on the right side of the screen, and you will be able to enroll in a plan directly online. In addition to the plans listed, we expect to add new plans over time, so please keep checking back if you can’t find something suitable.

How do I obtain liability insurance?

When you join Fractured Atlas, you will be asked to select a username and password for the web site. When you are ready to apply for an insurance quote, just point your browser to www.fracturedatlas.org, and login to the site. Then, click on Liability Insurance under the Programs & Services menu, choose the type of insurance you’re looking for, and you will be able to apply for a free quote directly online. Once our insurance brokers have processed your quote, you will be sent an email and will be able to purchase/secure the insurance immediately through our website. In addition to the programs and insurance carriers listed, we expect to add new, less expensive, easy-to-use programs over time. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please contact our office - we should be able to help!

Full Member Services:

Individual artists and emerging organizations can become full members of Fractured Atlas for a low annual membership fee. The services below are currently unavailable to Associate Members. The benefits available for full members only include:

Fiscal Sponsorship:

This is a financial and legal system by which a legally-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity (such as Fractured Atlas) provides the means for independent artists or groups to apply for grants or receive tax-deductible contributions. Fractured Atlas has the largest arts fiscal sponsorship program in the country. Fractured Atlas, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is only partially funded through membership fees. Critical additional support is or has been provided by The National Endowment for the Arts, The New York State Council for the Arts, local and family foundations, and scores of individual donors from
across the country.
