By Beth Murphy
BEYOND BELIEF follows Patti Quigley and Susan Retik, two Massachusetts women whose husbands were killed in the September 11th attacks, over the course of two years as they cope with loss, struggle to raise their families as single mothers, and ultimately use their voices to help widows halfway around the world in Afghanistan.
Determined to provide the same kind of support that sustained them through their tragedies, Patti and Susan dedicate themselves to empowering Afghan widows whose lives have been ravaged by decades of war, poverty and oppression - factors they consider to be the root causes of terrorism.
"These women love their children just as much as we love ours," says Patti. "We're just trying to give them the same opportunities we had after our tragedy."
MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
By contributing to this project, you are helping to pay it forward! As the film has screened at festivals and special events across the country, it has been amazing to see how each new audience is inspired, as I was, by Susan and Patti’s message of compassion and generosity. Now, we’re trying to share that experience with tens of thousands of people nationwide by releasing BEYOND BELIEF in select theaters. But every new city the film plays costs thousands of dollars to book the theater and create promotional materials. Unlike major Hollywood movies, this project has been entirely self-financed and self-distributed, so we’re relying on you to help us spread this important message. Thank you for your help!
