URGENT - Please ask the Governor to support TV diversity in New York

NYWIFT Members,

Now, more than ever, we need you to take action and urge Governor Andrew Cuomo to sign the nation's first TV diversity bill.

A few months ago, the State Assembly and State Senate passed legislation that incentivizes the hiring of women and people of color to write and direct television in New York. The bill has now arrived at Governor Cuomo's desk and he has less than 7 business days left to sign the bill.

Please call the governor's office to let him know you want him to sign the bill: (518) 474-8390

This legislation addresses the fact that the television industry has a diversity problem. Despite decades of studies and protests, women and people of color are still drastically underrepresented as writers and directors. It’s not because of lack of talent; it’s lack of opportunity. Governor Cuomo has the power to change that by signing a landmark TV Diversity Tax Credit that will open the door for people who have historically been unable to build careers in the state’s thriving entertainment industry.

Sincerely,
The NYWIFT Staff
