Many filmmakers & TV producers are intimidated when it comes to securing music for their productions. These television, film and music professionals will explain options and the process of establishing the very best soundtracks for various projects, whether it’s originally composed, licensed or a cover version of a famous song. Our panel will speak from their experiences and their perspectives about bringing together music and picture on an affordable budget. The discussion will include such topics as licensing songs, securing cover tunes, creating soundtracks with sound effects or no sound at all.
Lauren Buchter has composed the music for several short films including the dramatic short, Letting Go, directed by Marcus Lovingood and a feature-length documentary directed by Hal Dwoskin. She holds a Bachelors of Music degree in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music. She has studied composition privately under noted composer Filippo del Corno.
Sascha Just, is an independent filmmaker, born and raised in Berlin, Germany. Her film work includes the documentary, Heirs, a music-driven portrait of New Orleans composed of three artists' journeys into the city's past featuring drummer/vibraphonist Jason Marsalis.
Suzana Peric, has served as music editor on over 75 films, including The Illusionist, The Manchurian Candidate, Closer, The Pianist, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Beloved, Philadelphia. She received a Golden Reel Award for her work on The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in 2002.
Maira Shakhanova has produced an array of successful and award-winning films including feature and short films, documentaries, commercials, and TV shows. She was recently nominated as Best Producer at the International Film Festival for Peace, Inspiration, and Equality.
Linnette Harrigan (Moderator) is Founder of Linnette Harrigan Media Inc. a boutique agency, providing music services & creative content for TV/Film Production. She works as music supervisor, publisher and licensing expert managing a large catalog of original & cover music, regularly featured in films and on TV networks including ABC and NBC.
