|Designing Women 2012 Highlights
New York Women in Film & Television's Designing Women Awards were presented to a sold-out crowd on May 10, 2012, in the executive suites of Macy’s in Herald Square.
This special event celebrates the unsung heroines of production—the renowned costume designers, makeup artists and hairstylists who complete the look of a character and influence the world of fashion and style.
Honorees for Designing Women 2012 included makeup artists Jenn Jorge Nelson (30 Rock, Baby Mama, Hope and Faith) and Julie Teel (30 Rock, Ugly Betty, In Treatment), hair stylist and wigmaker Amanda Miller (Inside Llewyn Davis, Smash, I Just Want My Pants Back, Saturday Night Live), and costume designer Kasia Walicka Maimone (Moonrise Kingdom, Moneyball, The Adjustment Bureau). The costume, makeup and hair design team of Boardwalk Empire received the Variety Ensemble Award.
Tina Fey, Harvey Keitel (via video), Grammy winner Lady Rizo, Oscar-nominated director Bennett Miller (Moneyball, Capote), and Steve Buscemi gave moving—and often hilarious—speeches as they presented the awards. Kristen Schaal (30 Rock, Bob's Burgers, Flight of the Conchords) wowed the audience as the evening's emcee.
