Choosing Children
In the early 1980’s, many lesbians began to question the assumption
that “coming out” meant that a woman could not be a mother. At that
time, the only parenting lesbians were those who already had children
from previous heterosexual relationships. Choosing Children threw the
door wide open by showing audiences real-life examples of lesbians who
had challenged the age-old beliefs about homosexuality and parenting.
