Parallax (1973)
Parallax is a three-screen film that addresses a central theme
as a reoccurring metaphor for change. This dance film, choreographed by
Edith Stephen, explores the sensuous flow of the female and male body.
Rosalind Schneider is an avant-garde independent filmmaker who has
produced “Film as Art” since the 1970’s and short experimental 16mm
films that reflect her background as a painter. She was the first
artist and woman to show this genre at the Hirshhorn Museum in
Washington D.C. and her films were in the inaugural International
Festivals of Women’s Films in Washington D.C. and New York. Schneider
has presented and spoken about her work in Rekjavik, Iceland, and had
solo film showings at the Cinematheque in Athens and in universities
throughout the United States. Her work was shown at the Donnell
Library’s “Meet the Makers” program in 2005 for the Media Center.
