Gemiler (Ships) explores the world of urban youth culture in Istanbul through the eyes of Ali, a 24-year-old free spirit. Among Ali's many eccentricities, Ali has a recurring dream about getting on a ship named "Distant." Believing that everything around him has a meaning beyond its simple existence, Ali meets Eda, a tomboyish yet striking beauty who draws ship murals throughout the city. Convinced that this is a sign that he must find the ship he sees in his dreams, he invites Eda to join him on this quest. Together, the two embark on an adventure of self- discovery, exploring the values of friendship, home, and family.
