NYWIFT at 2012 Hamptons International Film Festival:
Call For Submissions

Submission deadline is Monday, June 25, 2012

2012 Hamptons International Film Festival: Women Calling the Shots
will host a screening of short films made by Women In Film & Television members from around the world at the 19th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival.

A joint venture of the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) and New York Women In Film & Television (NYWIFT), Women Calling the Shots is in its eighth year of screenings. This series gives voice to the creative visions of women through film and video, including narrative, documentary, animation and experimental works.

NYWIFT invites its members, as well as members from our US and international sister chapters, to submit their short films, no more than 20 minutes in length. Please download and fill out the 2012 HIFF application (link is above in the right hand corner of this article) and forward two copies to our office in New York, along with two DVD copies of your work (NTSC only—PAL will not be accepted or viewed). The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 25, 2012.

Now entering its 19th year, the Hamptons International Film Festival was founded to provide a forum for independent filmmakers from around the world to express their vision. The festival is traditionally held for five days in mid-October in theater venues from Montauk to Southampton and attracts roughly 15,000 visitors annually. At least twenty countries are represented in the slate of roughly 100 films that are showcased each year, with an awards package worth over $200,000. The festival continues to play a part in the awards season, with the 2008 edition featuring eventual Best Picture winners of the Oscar, Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award.
