It Felt Like Love writer and director, Eliza Hittman is an award-winning filmmaker, born and based in New York City. She began making films in 2007 and since then her films have screened internationally at festivals such as Sundance Film Festival and BAMcinemaFEST.
It Felt Like Love follows a 15 year old girl named Lila, whose life begins to fray when she lies about being involved with a guy she hardly knows. This film a girl who tries to play out her ideas of what it means to be a teenager, using her best friend as a template and inspired by how it is represented in the media, without having an actual experience. The success of the film is hinged on the palpable tension between how the character represents herself and what the audience knows to be true.
