Wherever music is live and loud, you're likely to find this month's dynamic Power Player, Stephen G. Hill, President of Music Programming & Specials at Black Entertainment Television. Hill will discuss his experiences managing the development and production of such BET shows as 106 & Park, The Deal, BET Honors, BET Awards, Hip Hop Awards, Spring Bling, Celebration Of Gospel and Rip The Runway. He also serves as executive producer for the BET Awards and the BET Hip Hop Awards and is responsible for BET's first original half hour show, College Hill.
Hill's success in entertainment was destined from an early age when he developed a talent for announcing songs on his tape player. He got his official training in radio at Brown University's WBRU-FM. And after teaching high school and working at a bank, he landed a job with industry legend Elroy Smith, Program Director at WILD-AM in Boston. Hill eventually took over as Program Director, taking WILD-AM to its highest ratings ever. He has also worked extensively with ABC Radio's Urban Gold Format, and executive produced the Tom Joyner Morning Show. He later became Director of Music Programming at MTV, programming all genres of videos, working with talent and supervising network standards.
